With my artwork I wish to find new ways of portraying the concept of rootedness and movement occurring simultaneously. The individuals in my pieces appear to be rooted in a moment but at the same time appear to be moving in an other-worldly realm which is beyond space and time. This space is filled with mystery and potential. The viewer is invited to enter this space to discover the story waiting to unfold.
Viewers are emotionally drawn to my work and are most surprised by my technique. When I intuitively capture a particular moment using slow-shutter photography on my iPhone, I focus on the energy that appears to accompany the individuals I am photographing. The images are then transformed as I blend and paint on my iPhone screen with the aid of various apps. The resulting artworks are mainly printed onto recycled wood.
I believe that the boundaries between hand painted art and the art created on devices using photographs and/or apps are beginning to blur, and I wish to be very much a part of this art movement.
